Pastor Jon’s Corner – Feb 16th

You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:5

Most people see the public side of our lives. All of our cracks and faults are hidden. In the digital age we live its even easier to show our best side. We can portray a rosy life which is very different than our private life. Who you are in private is far more important than who you are in public. Who you are when no-one can see you. The decisions you make, the words you say, the attitudes you have towards people. The depth of your secret life will determine the influence of your public life. We have to be careful not to judge a book by its cover. An incredible Facebook profile does not indicate an incredible life. Its what happens when the curtain close that is really important. Often we can see the faults in other people but can we see our blindspots. The Lord doesn’t want us to clean the outside of the cup so people think we are good he wants us to really change on the inside in the secret place of our life because if you clean the inside the outside will be clean too. Don’t worry about other peoples specks worry about your own planks.

Prayer Today: That we would go deeper in private to influence our public life. That we would be free from judgement. That we would deal with our heart and not just try to look good.
